Holding the cone and cap underwater, knock out the air bubbles in each piece and press the top on tightly. Push the ceramic cone completely into the soil. Extra large plants should be provided with two or three cones. Put the hose right to the bottom of a full container of water. Add a little liquid fertilizer if necessary. The level of water in the container should be level with or below the green cap. Raising or lowering the water container increases or reduces the flow rate. Maintenance Once a year, place the hose in hot water. Clean the inside of the ceramic cone with a brush and the outside with sandpaper or a pot scrubber type pad. Description With the small Blumat kit and 12 carrots or with the XL kit and 40 in a pressure system, the 8 mm Blumat tubing works great. But when you start doing something much larger than that, you may want to start using 1/2" or 3/4" drip tube line. These 3 mm transfer barbs make it easy to do that. Just puch a small hole in your main line (see our Universal Hole Punch) and put one of these in between your Blumat 3 mm line and your main supply pipe. And if you really want to make it convenient, add the 3 mm Quick Connect or better still the 3 mm Quick Connect with auto stop.

Much better than the wine bottle versions because Blumats are so much easier to refill: just cut the bottom off plastic bottle and fill with your regular watering can. (No reason to go back and forth from your sink so many times.) Better than the globe spikes because these disperse the water evenly, not just through a hole in the bottom. Just fit this adapter into almost any standard plastic bottle, fill the bottle with water and push into the soil near a plant. The porous cone will slowly start to distribute water throughout the day. The regular size does about 200 milliliters (.43 pint) during a 24-hour period.
