Moisture Monitoring

Accurate moisture monitoring is one of the most important factors in making good irrigation decisions—and it plays a huge role in overall plant health, soil biology, and resource efficiency. We like to use tensiometers, a tool that directly measure the tension in the soil: how much pressure a plant’s roots must exert to draw in water.

Tensiometers display this tension on a gauge using a standardized unit—centibar (cb) or millibar (mbar)—both part of the same pressure scale (just a decimal place apart). This makes it easy to compare readings across different setups and depths.

On this page, you’ll find a variety of tensiometer lengths for measuring moisture at different soil depths, along with accessories for installation, maintenance, and system optimization.

  • Sale -20% Blumat Digital Soil Moisture Meter With Cap

Blumat Digital Soil Moisture Meter With Cap

    100 reviews

Product Description:The Blumat Digital Moisture Meter with Cap is a soil moisture tensiometer that displays readings in millibar (mbar), letting you instantly see how much effort plant roots need to access water. Just tap the button for a real-time reading—no calibration or setup required. Low numbers (0–50 mbar) mean the soil is saturated Mid-range (50–100 mbar) is ideal for most grow media High readings (200+ mbar) suggest it's time to water This tool is a must-have for managing and troubleshooting Blumat systems with confidence. What’s Included: Blumat Digital Moisture Meter – Measures soil moisture in real time Protective Cap – Shields the sensor from UV and moisture for outdoor use The protective cap extends the life of your meter outdoors. Be careful not to seat the cap directly onto the soil, as trapped humidity may damage the sensor. Note: The top of the meter is not waterproof. Do not submerge or expose it to standing water. • Irrometer Kits

    Irrometer Kits

Product Description: Irrometers are reliable, American-made tensiometers that provide direct readings of soil water tension, helping growers make informed irrigation decisions. These analog tools measure the effort required by plant roots to extract water, offering insights into soil moisture status without the need for electronics or calibration. 1. Type & Length Options: LT (Low Tension, 0–40 Centibar) – Best for potting soil, peat-based potting mixes, coco coir, and living soil. This gauge is more sensitive at lower moisture tensions, offering better resolution in the wetter range—ideal for containers and grow media where consistent moisture is key. SR (Standard Range, 0–100 Centibar) – Designed for field soils like loam and clay. Offers a broader range to monitor drier conditions over time, commonly used in on farms, and general agriculture. Available in three sensor depths: 6" – Monitors near-surface moisture 12" – Most popular; great for beds and large containers 18" – For deep-rooted plants or lower soil profile monitoring Note: Irrometer readings are in centibar (kPa), which align with digital moisture meter readings in millibar—just shift the decimal (e.g., 100 mbar = 10 cbar). 2. Quantity Options: Order up to 4 Irrometers per kit.  3. Pump Service Kit (Optional Add-On): While not required, the Pump Service Kit is a valuable tool for setup and maintenance. It includes: Manual vacuum pump – helps fill and prime Irrometers, draw vacuum for faster readings, and check for leaks Green dye – improves visibility of internal water level from a distance Setup instructions and service guide You only need one pump kit per site, no matter how many Irrometers you're using. Irrometers offer a simple, field-tested way to make smarter irrigation decisions. Use one at your target depth—or stack multiple to track moisture movement through the full root zone.

  • Sale -40% IrroCloud Monitor IC-10-IR

IRROMETER Company, Inc. IrroCloud Monitor IC-10-IR

Description Real-time, accurate data showing you the moisture levels at each sensor in your system - too wet, too dry, or just right! It not only gives you the here-and-now information but also has an adjustable timeline for historic and/or specific dates and times. For example, you can start with a 3-month graph and then zoom in on any day and time.Although very simple, easy to use and interpret, it still provides vital, accurate, and critical information. It even tells you how many hours and minutes your irrigation system was on as well as rain gauge information (if you get that option). The four C batteries that normally last more than 2 years power the IrroCloud which connects with up to 6 Voltage Irrometers for soil moisture readings. These sensors report directly to the IRROcloud platform without any need for additional gateways or devices. If not the most, at least one of the most simple, affordable, and reliable solutions for automatically collecting sensor data and storing it in the cloud, for quick access at any time. Since the IrroCloud doesn't require an external power source or even a solar panel, you can easily install it in even the most challenging fields and orchards. The IRROcloud web application provides an intuitive interface with a quick reference dashboard and graphing suite.

  • Irrometer Pump Service Kit-1

    Irrometer Pump Service Kit

Description Service Units are designed to aid users in the placement and installation, interpretation of readings, and maintenance of IRROMETER soil moisture indicators. Several helpful items are included in the kit. The primary component of a Service Unit is a small hand vacuum pump. The pump is designed to seal on the reservoir portion of the instrument body and is used to create a vacuum manually, evacuating any air contained in the tensiometer. These instruments function with the greatest accuracy when all air has been removed. One Service Unit will service multiple instruments. The Pump Service Unit is different in that it includes a pump with an integral vacuum gauge that registers in centibars (cb) or kilopascals (kPa). This is used to validate accuracy of the gauge on the IRROMETER being serviced. Click here for Irrometer's instruction manual.

  • Irrometer Low Tension (LT) Model, 6"-1

Irrometer Low Tension (LT) Model, 6"

Description The IRROMETER Model LT (Low Tension) tensiometer was designed to operate in coarse sandy soils and non-soil growing media. With a range of 0-40 centibars (cb) or kilopascals (kPa), this instrument is for use in situations where tensions above 30 cb (kPa) are rarely expected. Gauge increments of 1 cb (kPa) provide a benefit where finer resolution near saturation is needed. This model instrument is also well suited for conditions where rapidly changing soil moisture conditions need to be observed. The "Quick-Flo" ceramic tip is colored blue for easy identification. Model LT IRROMETERS can be used for manual measurement and tracking of soil moisture status in coarse sandy soils and growing media. When equipped with optional electronic output and data logging equipment, measurement and tracking can be done automatically. The low tension vacuum gauge on this model can be replaced with electronic measurement options, or automatic switching devices which can activate peripheral equipment at desired soil water tension levels. See the "Automation and Output Options" specifications for more details. The Model LT is the best choice for container media such as peat, bark, sand, perlite and vermiculite. It can also be used in any soil when the moisture is being managed close to field capacity. Click here for Irrometer's instruction manual.
