Description Use this capillary mat in the center with a top or perforated foil on the top and some regular plastic sheeting under it. Cut to any size, quickly make 4x8, 4x10, or 4x5' sets. In trays under houseplants it evens out the moisture and encourages roots to grow down instad in a spiral. In seed starting trays it helps keep the seeds and seedlings from getting either to dry to to wet. The way to set it up is to line your tray or tub with the capillary mat fabric and put the Surface Blumat on top- and when adjusted correctly, the Blumat will automatically turn your water flow on and off based on the moisture level of the cap mat.

A cap mat that holds more water but has less capillary pull - it keeps the water longer if you're manually adding water but it takes longer to spread out. Use the 200 gsm (grams per square meter) version (IG19754) if you have an auto water refill, this 300 gsm version if you're adding water manually.
