Use this capillary mat in the center with a top or perforated foil on the top and some regular plastic sheeting under it. Cut to any size, quickly make  4x8, 4x10, or 4x5' sets. In trays under houseplants it evens out the moisture and encourages roots to grow down instad in a spiral. In seed starting trays it helps keep the seeds and seedlings from getting either to dry to to wet.

You can supply the water manually, with a Surface Blumat, or with a preset Blumat in one of the pots on the mat.
