Blumat Irrigation for Pots

Water any size pot automatically — no timers, no guesswork, just healthy plants
$9.18

Pots from 1-gallon seedling containers to 200-gallon living soil systems can use a Blumat irrigation kit tailored to their watering needs. Choose the sensor size, calibration type, and water-distribution method that fit each container.

Designed for container irrigation from 1 to 200 gallons. Options range from a single drip point for small pots to drip rings, distribution drippers, and BluSoak layouts for larger containers.

Tropf Blumat ceramic sensors automatically start and stop water flow as the root zone dries and rewets. Unlike timer-controlled irrigation, the system responds directly to plant demand, weather, and container moisture—without electricity or programming.

Sensor Size
  • 5" Sensor — Best for small pots, shallow containers, capillary mat-style setups, or situations where you specifically want shallower moisture sensing.
  • 9" Sensor — Recommended for containers over 6" deep. The 9" sensor depth is adjustable, so it does not need to be buried all the way down. It gives more flexibility for larger containers, deeper root zones while still allowing you to place the ceramic cone at the moisture-sensing depth you want.
Calibration Type
  • Standard — Ships as-is from Blumat. You dial in the moisture level yourself. Includes 6" of 3mm tubing (5" sensor) or 2 ft (9" sensor).
  • Preset — Pre-calibrated at our Colorado warehouse for most soil and potting mix types. Includes a locking adjustment cap, 3mm union, adjustment key, and an additional 2 ft of 3mm tubing.
Distribution Method
  • None (1–5 gal) — Sensor waters directly at the insertion point. Best for small pots.
  • 5" Drip Ring (2–7 gal) — 4 drip points, pre-assembled.
  • 3-Dripper Setup (5–20 gal) — 3 drippers with stakes and 3mm tubing.
  • 10" Drip Ring (10–20 gal) — 8 drip points, pre-assembled.
  • 5-Dripper Setup (10–30 gal) — 5 drippers with stakes and 3mm tubing.
  • BluSoak Tape Loop (30–90 gal) — Single loop for even coverage around large containers.
  • BluSoak Tape Double Spiral (30–90 gal) — Spiral from center outward for maximum coverage.
  • BluSoak Tape Triple Spiral (100–200 gal) — Largest spiral layout for very big pots and beds.
What's Included
  • 1 Blumat sensor (5" or 9" based on selection)
  • 3mm drip tubing (6" or 2 ft based on sensor size)
  • Distribution components based on selection (drip ring, drippers, or BluSoak tape)
  • Preset upgrade includes: locking adjustment cap, 3mm union, adjustment key, extra tubing
What You'll Also Need

This kit covers everything at the pot. To complete your system you’ll also need an 8mm supply line and a water source:

  • 8mm Supply Line — runs from your water source to the sensor. See our 8mm SuperFlex Supply Line Kits.
  • Gravity Reservoir — our complete 5-Gallon Deluxe Bucket Kit comes pre-drilled and ready to connect, or grab our 8mm Bulkhead Fittings and use any container of your choosing.
  • Pressurized Source (hose bib or pump) — if connecting to a hose bib or pump instead of a gravity reservoir, you’ll need a Pressure Reducer to bring the pressure down to the safe Blumat operating range of 7–15 PSI.
How It Works

The Blumat sensor is a ceramic cone that reads soil moisture. As the soil dries, a vacuum builds inside the cone and pulls water through the drip line. When moisture is restored, the valve closes automatically.

Connect your sensor to any 8mm Blumat supply line running from a gravity reservoir or pressurized source. No programming, no timers, no electricity required.

Gravity BluSoak Raised Bed Kits

Automatic Blumat raised-bed watering from an elevated gravity reservoir. Choose your bed size and sensor setup. Water source and supply line sold separately.
$62.10

Gravity BluSoak Raised Bed Kits provide automatic, soil-moisture-controlled irrigation for raised beds using porous Gravity BluSoak drip tape. The entire length of the tape releases water slowly and evenly, while the Blumat sensor starts and stops the flow based on the moisture in the soil.

Designed for gravity-fed Blumat irrigation systems. Use an elevated reservoir. Do not connect this white porous tape to a 7.25 PSI or 15 PSI pressure reducer.

Formerly described as BluSoak 2.0 raised-bed kits. No timer, electricity, or programming is required.

Pressure & Water Source Requirements

Gravity BluSoak is intended for gravity-fed systems. The 7.25 PSI and 15 PSI pressure reducers are not compatible; excessive pressure can damage the tape.

  • Gravity reservoir: Position the bottom of the reservoir approximately 3½ feet or more above the soil surface to provide adequate pressure.

The reservoir, pump, hose connection, pressure reducer, and main supply line are not included .

Bed Size & Layout
  • 2 Row (2×4 ft) — Two rows of Gravity BluSoak drip tape
  • 3 Row (3×3 ft) — Three rows of Gravity BluSoak drip tape
  • 3 Row (3×6 ft) — Three rows of Gravity BluSoak drip tape
  • 4 Row (4×4 ft) — Four rows of Gravity BluSoak drip tape
  • 4 Row (4×8 ft) — Four rows of Gravity BluSoak drip tape
Sensor Type
  • 5" Sensor — Best for shallow beds and sensing moisture nearer the soil surface.
  • 9" Sensor — Better for deeper beds and monitoring moisture farther into the root zone.
  • 5" + 9" Dual Sensor — Uses two sensing depths to control the bed together.
Calibration Type
  • Standard — Ships with the standard Blumat adjustment top for you to calibrate after installation.
  • Preset — Pre-calibrated at our Colorado warehouse and includes a locking adjustment cap, 3mm union, and adjustment key.
What's Included
  • Blumat sensor or sensors based on your selection
  • Gravity BluSoak drip tape sized for the selected bed layout
  • Required in-bed BluSoak fittings and adapters
  • 3mm drip tubing
  • Preset selections also include the locking cap, 3mm union, and adjustment key
What You'll Also Need

This kit covers the irrigation components inside the bed. To complete the system, choose:

  • 8mm supply line running from the water source to the Blumat sensor
  • A gravity reservoir with an 8mm bulkhead connection
How It Works

The Blumat sensor continuously responds to soil moisture. As the bed dries, the sensor opens and allows water to move through the Gravity BluSoak tape. When the target moisture level is restored, the sensor closes automatically.

Because Gravity BluSoak is porous along its entire length, it distributes water slowly across the bed instead of releasing it from individual emitter points.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which water source should I use?

Use an elevated gravity reservoir. Do not pair Gravity BluSoak with a 7.25 PSI or 15 PSI reducer; the white porous tape can be damaged by excessive pressure.

What is sold separately?

The water source and main supply line are sold separately. High-pressure installations also require a compatible pressure reducer.

Is this the same tape as BluSoak 2.0?

Yes. BluSoak 2.0 is now Gravity BluSoak. The new name clarifies which water setup to use.

High-Pressure BluSoak Raised Bed Kits

Blumat raised-bed watering at 10–15 PSI with a preset 9-inch sensor and removable straight-line tape. Requires a regulated hose bib or pump.
$42.00

High-Pressure BluSoak Raised Bed Kits pair a preset 9" Blumat sensor with ultra-low-flow, emitter-style High-Pressure BluSoak drip tape. The 6-inch emitter spacing promotes continuous lateral wicking and uniform moisture across raised beds and large containers.

Designed exclusively for pressurized installations operating between 10 and 15 PSI. These kits require a regulated hose bib or pump system and will not operate correctly from gravity pressure.

Formerly described as BluSoak 3.0 high-pressure kits. The removable straight-line layout makes the system easy to lift out, amend beneath, and reinstall between cycles.

Pressure & Water Source Requirements
  • Required operating pressure: 10–15 PSI
  • Works with a regulated hose bib, municipal supply, or pump system
  • Use a 1-bar (15 PSI) reducer or an adjustable pressure reducer set within the operating range
  • Not compatible with gravity-fed systems

The pump, hose connection, pressure reducer, and main supply line are not included.

Kit Options
  • 2×4 Bed / Large Container — Two straight runs and 10 ft of High-Pressure BluSoak
  • 4×4 Bed — Four straight runs and 20 ft of High-Pressure BluSoak
  • 4×8 Bed — Four straight runs and 40 ft of High-Pressure BluSoak
What's Included
  • Preset 9" Blumat sensor
  • High-Pressure BluSoak drip tape with 6-inch emitter spacing
  • 8mm SuperFlex header lines
  • Required in-bed BluSoak fittings and adapters
What You'll Also Need

This kit covers the irrigation components inside the bed. To complete the system, you will also need:

  • An 8mm supply line running from the water source to the Blumat sensor
  • A pressurized water source such as a hose bib or pump
  • A compatible pressure reducer set between 10 and 15 PSI
Straight-Line Layout
  • Lift the irrigation assembly out before amending the bed
  • Reinstall it without rebuilding a woven layout
  • Keep the tape runs clean, modular, and easy to service
  • Maintain consistent pressure distribution through header-fed straight runs
How It Works

The preset Blumat sensor responds continuously to soil moisture and controls water flow into the tape. As the bed dries, the sensor opens. When the target moisture level is restored, it closes automatically.

High-Pressure BluSoak releases water from closely spaced emitters. At 10–15 PSI, the low flow rate and 6-inch spacing create stable, predictable moisture distribution without relying on a timer.

Installation Notes
  • Cut the tape directly through an emitter, not between emitters.
  • Position the first emitter approximately 6 inches from the fitting.
  • Fully tighten all tape fittings; even small leaks can reduce pressure and cause uneven performance.
  • Purge the supply line and confirm full finished-system pressure before calibrating or adjusting the sensor.
Frequently Asked Questions

Which water source should I use?

Use a hose bib or pump regulated to 10–15 PSI. Choose a Blumat-compatible 15 PSI reducer or an adjustable reducer set within that range. A 7.25 PSI reducer does not provide enough pressure.

What is sold separately?

The water source and main supply line are sold separately. High-pressure installations also require a compatible pressure reducer.

Is this the same tape as BluSoak 3.0?

Yes. BluSoak 3.0 is now High-Pressure BluSoak. The new name clarifies which water setup to use.

AquaMat Capillary Mat Systems

Water containers from below with a capillary mat. Choose your mat size, sensor option, and containers. Blumat-controlled setups also need an 8 mm supply line and a compatible water source, sold separately.
$108.00

AquaMat Capillary Mat Systems provide consistent, bottom-up irrigation for seedlings, clones, nursery pots, and vegetative plants. The mat distributes water across its surface so compatible containers can absorb moisture from below as plants need it.

Choose the mat size, irrigation-control method, and container option that fit your growing space. Available configurations support 2×4, 3×3, 4×4, and 4×8 ft areas.

AquaMat promotes even hydration, improved soil aeration, and rapid vegetative growth while reducing hand watering. Automated configurations use a Blumat sensor to respond directly to moisture conditions—without timers, programming, or electricity.

How It Works

Water enters the AquaMat and spreads across the capillary surface. Containers with bottom openings sit directly on the mat and absorb water from below, allowing moisture to move upward through the growing media.

With a Blumat control option, the ceramic sensor responds continuously to moisture conditions and opens or closes the water supply automatically. The surface-mounted sensor reads the mat directly; the preset 5" sensor uses a soil-filled pilot container to regulate the mat.

Mat Size Options
  • 2×4 ft — Compact propagation or vegetative area
  • 3×3 ft — Square grow-tent or nursery layout
  • 4×4 ft — Full 4×4 grow-tent footprint
  • 4×8 ft — Large propagation, nursery, or vegetative area
Irrigation Control Options
  • Preset 5" Blumat Sensor — Sits in a soil-filled pilot container and regulates flow according to root-zone moisture. Best for pots approximately 4" or larger.
  • Surface-Mounted Blumat — Uses a bell-shaped ceramic base that sits directly on the mat and controls moisture across the capillary surface. Ideal for cell trays and small containers.
  • No Sensor — Choose this option when you plan to water the mat manually or supply your own controls. Irrigation fittings are not included with this selection.
Container Options
  • Grassroots 1-Gallon Bottomless Sleeves — Open-bottom containers that maximize contact with the mat, improve aeration, and simplify transplanting. Includes 10 for 2×4, 20 for 3×3 or 4×4, and 40 for 4×8.
  • Non-Woven Nursery Pots — Biodegradable, tear-resistant fabric containers that allow roots to grow through the sides and bottom. Includes 50 with any mat size.
  • None — Use your own containers. Choose pots, trays, or bags with drainage openings positioned flush against the mat.
What's Included
  • AquaMat capillary mat sized for your selected growing area
  • Blumat irrigation control components when a sensor option is selected
  • Grassroots bottomless sleeves or non-woven nursery pots when a container option is selected
What You'll Also Need

Automated AquaMat configurations require an 8mm supply line and a compatible water source:

  • 8mm supply line running from the water source to the Blumat control
  • Gravity reservoir with an 8mm bulkhead connection, positioned high enough to provide reliable operating pressure
  • Pressurized source such as a hose bib or pump, paired with a Blumat-compatible pressure reducer

The water source, main supply line, pump, hose connection, and pressure reducer are sold separately.

Setup Notes
  • Install the mat on a clean, level surface so water can spread evenly.
  • Place containers directly against the mat with no air gap beneath them.
  • Use containers with bottom openings that allow the growing media or roots to contact the capillary surface.
  • Top-water newly placed containers until moisture contact is established between the growing media and the mat.

This is your classic bulkhead fitting, made in Austria, high quality and efficient for a Blumat System. Bulkhead fittings allow you to penetrate through a wall or barrier, while allowing passage within the fitting. This allow you to tap into a tank of water, while allowing water to pass-through the bulkhead fitting, and into a water supply line. We have these pre-drilled into our 5-gal bucket reservoir, see related products below. Have your own reservoir? No problem, simply drill 1/2" holes into your own water tank and convert it into a Blumat Reservoir.

We have even higher quality bullhead fittings, some that stop water flow when disconnected. Check out our bulkhead fittings category.

*Reservoir not included, look into Blumat Reservoir or 5-gallon bucket if you need a reservoir

Blumat Digital Moisture Meter Kits

The simplest and most reliable way to measure soil moisture
$89.00

Instant, accurate soil moisture readings purpose-built for potting mix and living soil. No calibration, no guesswork — just reliable data so you know exactly when to water and when to hold off.

Available Options
  • Meter Only — Base unit for reliable soil moisture readings.
  • Meter + Protective Cap — Adds UV and moisture protection for outdoor use.
  • Meter + Protective Cap + Battery — Includes a spare CR2032 3-volt battery.
  • Complete Kit (Meter + Cap + Battery + Coring Tool) — Full field kit with the Blumat Coring Tool (1" wide, 11"+ long) for precise sensor installation with minimal soil disturbance.
How It Works

Insert the probe into your potting mix and get an instant reading in millibar (mbar). The lower the number, the wetter the soil. Use it to dial in your Blumat sensors, check moisture before watering, or track drybacks between feeds.

Purpose-built for container growing — not field soil. Gives consistent, repeatable readings that cheap probes and finger tests can't match.

Important Notes
  • The top of the meter is not waterproof — do not submerge or expose to standing water.
  • The protective cap should not be seated directly into soil — trapped humidity can damage the sensor.
  • Reset instructions available here.
