Each kit is fully customizable to fit your setup. Choose your mat size (2x4, 4x4, or 4x8), select an irrigation control method, and pick the ideal container for your plants.
Irrigation Control Options:
Preset 5-inch BluMat Sensor: Placed into a “pilot” container filled with soil, this sensor regulates water flow into the mat based on soil moisture levels. Best suited for pots 4 inches or larger.
Surface-Mounted BluMat: A bell-shaped ceramic base that attaches to a BluMat sensor and sits directly on the mat. This allows you to fine-tune moisture levels for uniform watering across the mat’s surface. Ideal for cell trays or small containers where inserting a sensor isn’t practical.
No Sensor: For manual watering or use with existing irrigation systems.
Container Options:
Grassroots One-Gallon Bottomless Sleeves: These fabric sleeves maximize aeration while allowing roots to interact directly with the mat. An easy and economical way to automate a Blumat and/or BluSoak system. Just attach this to a 24/7 water line and gravity will take care of the rest. For small systems, this is a simple way of controlling your pressure without needing an expensive pressure regulator - just make the reservoir higher for more water, lower for less. The included fittings give you a choice of connecting to your water supply line with either a 1/2" male pipe thread, a 3/4" FHT, or an 8mm Blumat line. If your water source has over 50 psi pressure, add this (or similar) high quality but inexpensive pressure reducer: IG16309.

A simple and elegant way to water your outdoor potted plants and raised garden beds, this kit supplies everything you need except for the water. Just put the 5 gallon bucket near where you want the irrigation, attach the XL Blumat Classic watering stakes, and insert them into the potting mix or soil. The Blumats wick moisture as the plants deplete it, irrigate on the plants schedule instead of an arbitrary timer, and saves precious water. To increase or decrease the moisture content in your containers, just raise or lower the bucket.

We designed this watering kit for backyard gardeners without much time, without a green thumb, and without a lot of extra dollars to spend. Much more simple and easy to install than a typical drip system, it can still provide much more consistent and reliable irrigation. Another unique advantage over normal drip systems is that this one doesn’t require pressure – instead, it siphons. This makes it ideal for rainwater collection systems as well as for watering plants or trees far removed from water lines.
This base kit is adaptable and expandable in many different ways. It includes a bulkhead fitting you can use to attach to almost any water container. You can also order a 5-gallon one from us and also add on a rain collection screen. You can add more of either the small or large Classics, a filter screen, a water level indicator, or more supply line. You could also add a pressure reducer and float valve to make this into an automatically instead of manually filled system.

You have to guess how much water the plants need; and, as the season progresses, the plants get bigger and the temperature gets warmer, your guesses mismatch more and more. This kit provides an easy, fast, and water-saving way to water a 1 to 5 gallon pot. No timers, batteries, or electricity required! This system utilizes a Blumat carrot (sensor) to automatically water and monitor the moisture levels in your garden soil.
Water source needs to be above the garden for a gravity system. For a pressure system running off a faucet or garden hose, simply add a Blumat Pressure Reducer.

How it Works
The Tropf Blumat self-watering system functions automatically, without the need for timers. Each Blumat is both a sensor, a valve and a dripper. As the soil dries, suction pulls open the valve within the Blumat, allowing the flow of water through the 3mm tubing. As the soil reaches the desired moisture content, the suction is released, closing the valve. Each Tropf Blumat waters completely independently. Therefore the plants are watered individually, naturally accounting for changes in the environment.For a gravity-fed system, you'll need a reservoir.
