Description This professional moisture meter will show you how dry or wet the soil is at the push of a button. The digital moisture meter can be an ideal tool to help when dialing in your Blumat or other garden irrigation system. Keeping your soil at the ideal moisture level keeps microbes and other microorganism populations happy. *DO NOT GET ELECTRIC/DIGITAL PART OF METER WET. USE PROTECTIVE CAP, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE USING THESE OUTSIDE, HAND-WATERING, OR FREQUENTLY APPLY FOLIAR SPRAYS. How it Works The ceramic extension is soaked in and filled with water, just like a Blumat sensor. When this is inserted into the growing medium, the medium exerts a pressure on the water inside the cone. When the medium is more dry, it pulls harder on the water inside the cone. When the medium is more moist, the force pulling inside the cone is less. These forces of pressure correlate to different readings on the meter. A reading of 0 indicates standard water, while a high reading of 750 or so indicates sawdust completely void of moisture. The digital moisture meter is a tensiometer, but indicates moisture levels using pressure as a correlative. Reset Your Meter! Wait until after watering media to let the moisture evenly disperse and stabilize before trusting readings from the meter.
Aim for 100mbar on average in living soil. Some gardeners report best results at 40mbar–I personally get overwatering symptoms there. Let mbar readings on your meter be a guide to plant health, not a tyranny that rules your mental peace.
The meter cannot be used in extremely airy or chunky media such as chunky perlite, lava rock, etc. When the ceramic is in contact with air, the pressure readings will be extremely high. However, your plant roots may have access to moisture in these media even when the meter is displaying high readings.
Avoid getting the digital display wet. The protective cap is highly encouraged in all circumstances, and is completely necessary for outdoor growers as well as those who supplement with any over-the-top watering.
Do not drop or otherwise rattle the display.

Much better than the wine bottle versions because Blumats are so much easier to refill: just cut the bottom off plastic bottle and fill with your regular watering can. (No reason to go back and forth from your sink so many times.) Better than the globe spikes because these disperse the water evenly, not just through a hole in the bottom. Just fit this adapter into almost any standard plastic bottle, fill the bottle with water and push into the soil near a plant. The porous cone will slowly start to distribute water throughout the day.
The regular size does about 200 milliliters (0.43 pints) during a 24-hour period. The XL, larger size does about 300 milliliters (0.63 pints).

This kit includes the Blumat Medium Box Kit which are designed to water areas up to 3.5 square meters, or 12 potted plants. Blumat systems can adjust to any plant type or desired moisture level. How it works
The Tropf Blumat self-watering system functions automatically. As the soil dries, a vacuum and hydro-static pressure, coupled with a spring-loaded gating mechanism, pulls water from the main line. When the soil is sufficiently moist, pressures equalize, and the Tropf Blumat automatically stops taking in water. Each Blumat Outdoor Sensor in the Deck and Planter Set covers an area 12 inches in diameter. To expand and customize your own system, add additional Supply Hoses,Outdoor Sensors, and Distributor Drippers.
PLEASE NOTE: This Tropf Blumat systems do not include a Pressure Reducer. You will need this if you are connecting your system to a threaded spigot, such as your hose/home water supply or the spigot on a rain barrel or reservoir. The right-angled elbow eliminates bends in the tubing that can limit the flow in your irrigation system. The black plastic is robust and barbed at both ends to hold the tube securely in place. Use this special end piece to end your 8mm line and enter 3mm tubing. Use the special 3mm cap to cover and plug the 3mm elbow. This can be used to end your 8mm supply line, and then take out the little end black cap if you want to add another sensor or simply want to bleed water out.

Description
These Blumat 8mm Hose Unions, also known as 8mm couplers) are ideal for re-connecting your 8mm tubing back together. This fitting essentially acts as a band-aid to connect two pieces of 8mm tubing back together.
Useful for fixing leaks or sections of your supply line that got kinked or opened up somehow. Simply cut into the tubing, and connect each side of the 8mm tubing back together, no need to purchase an entire extra line of tubing.
Take a vacation and let your plants look after themselves. Blumat Plant Savers ensure a constant supply of water. They automatically supply just the right amount - never too much or not enough. Your plants will love it. They won't experience the drying out that stunts growth or the over-watering that squeezes the air out of the soil and keeps them from "breathing" properly. As the soil dries, the ceramic cone delivers water gradually into the surrounding earth - thereby creating a vacuum within the cone which draws water from the nearby container of water. Once the soil is moistened the Blumat will cease flowing water. It waters your plants only as needed. You can even add fertilizer to the water supply. This slow, continual feeding encourages prolific growth. Blumat will only draw water up 12 inches (30cm). If the surface of the water in your container is lower than this, the flow of water will be restricted and the plants gradually dry out. Each Blumat has a limit on how fast it can deliver water. Several cones may be necessary for larger plants in order to meet the higher water needs. In this case, a larger reservoir of water must also be available.
