It has a double-layered mesh with a fine version on the inside and a thicker, bigger mesh on the outside. It stays in place much better and lasts many times longer.

New Blumat Mini-Strainer for Filtering In-Line This is a small strainer that goes directly into 1/4" Blumat supply line! Includes a clear bowl to make it easier to know if sediment fills up the container. Easy twist-on/twist-off clear filter bowls allows you to easily clean out the filter and re-use. Also includes quick connect fittings that gives you the ability to easily take out of line and clean. Also available for 8mm tube and with quick connect/stops that give you the option to stop water flow after removing. This new Blumat input filter fits on the Blumat Bulkhead Through-Hull Tank Connector, inside the reservoir and keeps sediment and leaves from getting into your supply line. It doesn’t fit on the older tank connectors we had before August 2023 though. The new ones (on the right in the picture below) have two tabs on the sides and a 6-sided jut on the input side, where the old ones have two parallel lines. An inexpensive "insurance policy," this could save you quite a bit of headache if your water doesn't always stay clean.
