  • Tropf Blumat 5" Preset

    Tropf Blumat 5" Preset

Description A game-changing innovation: pre-calibrated 5" and 9" Blumat Tropfs These two new products eliminate almost all the problems people have setting up and maintaining Tropf Blumats, save a huge amount of time, and also make it easy to adjust your entire system all at once! Most of the time people spend setting up a Blumat system involves adjusting the sensors - both initially and when you need to make a change. We can do that for you now so all you'll have to do is plug them in. To make small adjustments later to provide more or less water, you can make a 10-second adjustment on an adjustable pressure reducer (if you have one) and change the flow rates for all at once. Both 5" and 9" sensors arrive pre-calibrated with two markings on the brown adjustment dial - one for gravity and one for pressure systems. This new innovation makes the Blumat Tropf practical for large commercial systems with thousands of plants as well as preventing the most common problems people have while dramatically decreasing setup time for small systems. Pre-calibrated for most soil/media types like living soil, standard potting mixes, coco, and peat; they take most of the work and worry out of the installation! Set just where you want them to be right out of the box. We normally recommend the 9" Maxis in these systems but also make this 5" size for pots smaller than 5 gallons. This listing includes one 5 inch preset Blumat Tropf with a protective cap to prevent the setting from being accidentally changed. They come with two markings on the brown adjustment dial. Use the red mark for gravity systems and the blue one if you have pressure. Click here to read/download instructions.

  • Tropf Blumat 5" Sensor - 1 Individual Sensor Bulk-1

Tropf Blumat 5" Sensor - 1 Individual Sensor Bulk

    1 review

Description The Tropf-Blumat (Tropf means drip in German) is a sensor that automatically supplies plants water through its thin tubing. This ceramic cone employs the principle of hydrostatic pressure, that delivers water extremely slowly, and at the plant’s own preferred rate. Allowing each plant to determine its own irrigation schedule. Blumat Sensors can be used as standalone devices or can also be integrated with drip emitters (we call them “distribution drippers”), drip tape (BluSoak), or capillary mats. These three components assist Blumat sensors in going further. While a Blumat typically irrigates a very small area (a 1-gallon container for example), a single Blumat can irrigate entire garden beds when attached to the Blusoak. How It Works Each Tropf Blumat is filled with water and voided of air prior to being connected to a pressurized line (pressure from gravity-feed is adequate). The water inside the Blumat is in a completely sealed environment. The only exposure it has is through the pores in the ceramic cone. As soil surrounding the cone dries It pulls on the moisture inside the cone through osmotic pressure. Since this is a sealed environment and the pressure cannot equalize, this pulls on a plastic diaphragm in the top of the Blumat. When the diaphragm is pulled down, it allows an irrigation tube running through the top of the valve of the Blumat to open and emit moisture. It does this very gradually. As the water is emitted through the Blumat, the moisture is gradually restored to the soil surrounding the porous ceramic. This relieves the pressure difference between the chamber inside the Blumat and the surrounding soil. This stops pulling on the diaphragm, and the diaphragm restores its former position of pinching the irrigation tubing shut. Allowing each plant to determine its own watering schedule. *The brown knob on top of each Tropf Blumat can be individually calibrated to specific plant species, strain/cultivar/varietal, or media. Details Materials Clay Silicone Plastic Dimensions Weight: 1.3oz Total length: 5.2" Max soil depth: 4" Cap width: 1.4" Sensor width: 1" Tubing length: 8" Connectors Fits 8mm Blumat and Superflex tubing. Flow Rate Adjustable Stand Alone Product? No. Requires water source. Instructions Tropf Blumat Instructions Water your garden thoroughly (ideally overnight) before installation. Prep the Carrots: Fill a container with cooled, non-aerated water (if you’re not sure, boil & cool the water first). Separate the ceramic bottoms from the plastic tops, and soak both parts for at least 15 minutes. While holding the green top underwater use a pipette/eyedropper or your thumb to squirt water into the holes in the green cap. You want to displace any small air bubbles stuck in the cap. Hold both cap and ceramic bottom underwater. Confirm the ceramic bottom and cap are both completely void of air, and reassemble the Blumat ceramic bottom with the green cap while both components are still underwater. Soak the assembled Blumat sensors and keep them submerged for a minimum of 15 minutes. Blumat sensors can stay in water indefinitely, but avoid algae growth and light exposure. While the Tropf Blumats are soaking: Connect the 8mm tubing to a reservoir or Blumat Pressure Reducer which has been integrated to a pressurized line. Run the 8mm tubing to your plants. Installation: Water the garden again, and push the Blumat Carrot in where you would like the moisture sensed, ensuring the ceramic cone is completely covered and firmly anchored. Cut the 8mm tubing and insert the 8 x 8 x 3mm tee (included with each Blumat). Slide the 8mm tubing over the 8mm barbs on the tee. For the last carrot, use the elbow insert instead of the tee. Alternatively, keep the tee in place. Use a small amount of 8mm tubing to attach a 8mm shut-off valve following your final Blumat carrot. This will function as an air/debris purge valve. Adjustment: Turn on the water supply and adjust the flow to each Blumat. Open the valve on the Blumat until flow is visible. Keeping the 3mm tubing level with the valve of the Blumat, slowly tighten (turn clockwise) the Blumat until a hanging drop is just achieved. The flow should just be stopped, but do not twist beyond that point for the “hanging drop.” Tighten the valve on the Blumat an additional two triangles. This will roughly calibrate the sensor to keep maintain current moisture levels.* *If using BluSoak drip tape, do not follow this step. Keeping your sensors at the hanging drip is ideal. Monitor: Come back in 12-24 hours, and make adjustments to each Blumat. If a container or area is over-watered, tighten the Blumat valve (turn clockwise). If a container or area is under-watered, open the Blumat valve (turn counter-clockwise). Repeat the previous step until your system is exactly where you’d like it. The Blumat Digital Moisture Meter is a great tool for assisting with this step. • Tropf Blumat Maxi - 2 Pack-1

    Tropf Blumat Maxi 9" - 2 Pack

    1 review

Description The Tropf-Blumat Maxi acts as a regulator and dripper, just like the standard 5” Tropf-Blumat. This one is 9 inches long though. You put it in the ground 6 - 7.5 inches so it senses the moisture at a deeper level. This is important when your plants get bigger because the regular Blumat sensor might turn the water off too soon. This one might turn it off too soon if your plant still has surface roots. Some growers use both - especially if they are growing in coco or a hydroponic system. The Tropf-Blumat (Drip-Blumat) is a sensor that supplies plants with drips of water via thin tubing. As the soil dries, its natural suction power triggers the opening of the Tropf Blumat allowing the water to flow. When the soil is sufficiently moist, the Tropf Blumat automatically stops. The system functions fully automatically. Every plant, every container or group of plants requires at least 1 Tropf-Blumat adjusted to the individual needs of the plant. Larger containers or surfaces require longer or more than one sensor. All Tropf-Blumats are connected using one supply tube, this allows for flexibility in the layout and is changeable at any time. Automatically waters individual plants and only when needed. There are a few options for a water source; you can either connect the system directly to your hose tap or rain barrel (with fittings not supplied with this product).

Just attach your Blumat 8mm line, fill with water, and almost instantly your plants are taken care of. This includes two installed Blumat adapters and a black lid. They have two connectors to make it easy to set up a "Blumat Loop" system. With these the water goes from 2 directions effectively giving you twice the capacity. It also equalizes the pressure and is a kind of "insurance policy" - if your line gets kinked, something clogs it up, or someone accidentally puts something heavy on it, all the plants will still get water. These are made from recyclable (#2) HDPE plastic called "the only safe plastic for drinking water" so you don't need to worry about anything bad going to your plants. The black color prevents algae and other nasties from growing in your water and also makes the water going to the roots hotter - a little known secret for superior plant growth.

Whole System Adjustable Pressure Reducer for Blumat systems

    2 reviews

Product Description: This Adjustable Pressure Reducer gives you full control over your Blumat system pressure—ideal for consistent performance and the flexibility to fine-tune your setup. It includes a 0–30 PSI pressure gauge, so you always know exactly what your system is running. This is one of the most important numbers to know in a Blumat setup, essential for troubleshooting and dialing in optimal performance. With a high flow rate of over 5 gallons per minute, this reducer can replace six or more standard Blumat pressure reducers. It’s powerful enough for the largest systems, yet adjustable and precise enough to use with small, single-zone setups as well. The pressure can be set anywhere from 2–14 PSI, allowing you to match system pressure to your specific needs. Different distribution methods (drippers, drip rings, BluSoak) and sensor counts may benefit from different pressure settings, and this reducer gives you the control to optimize performance. Pressure is adjusted by turning the black collar: Left (counterclockwise) = less pressure Right (clockwise) = more pressure Connections & Adapters:The reducer body has a ½" male pipe thread (MPT) inlet and a ¾" female pipe thread (FPT) outlet. Included adapters make it easy to install: Input: Adapts to ¾" female hose thread (FHT) for standard garden hoses or hose bibs Output: ½" Perma-Loc fitting (for Trunk Line Kits) 8mm barb adapter (for Supply Line Kits with Superflex tubing)
