Grassroots Living Soil Fabric Beds are made in the USA and designed specifically for living soil gardening. They are fabric pots built to make your soil and plants thrive with their innovative MoistureLock™ technology.
Regular pots and beds are made of a breathable non-woven fabric that allows for excellent air pruning and drainage, creating an interesting problem when used with living soils. The soil in fabric containers dries quickly from the bottom and the sides.
This is generally great for fertigation and other types of growing. However, it is not ideal for living soil.
MoistureLock Technology is a strip of BPA-free waterproof fabric sewn to the inside of the container that provides the following benefits:
- Directs water down and not out the sides of the pot, which helps avoid messes and dry pockets in the soil
- Promotes even moisture throughout the soil by preventing it from drying out around the sides of the pot. This allows microbiology to thrive evenly throughout the plant root zone.
- Uses less water than traditional fabric pots while keeping humidity lower in the room because there is less surface area for water to escape the container.
- Aeration and air pruning still happens around the strip of breathable fabric towards the bottom of the container.
